New Year

Just a quick thanks to everyone who’s supported us though our first full year of rocking with our bits out. Let’s do it all again but bigger and better than before. You’ll all be getting plenty of Afterthoughts spam in the next few months.
Love to all,

Things learnt while sick

While I’ve been moping around the house for a week being the sickest I’ve been that I can remember, certain truths have been revealing themselves:

If you throw your tissues rather than placing them in a bin you end up with an empty bin and tissues on the floor.

No matter how moist your lips are when you go to bed, the will be puffed up and cracking with dehydration in the morning.

Toilet paper does a fine job at being nose paper. Sometimes even better than normal tissues ’cause with toilet paper you have more control over your portion. Little dab? One sheet. Full blow? Two please.

If you sleep with one side of the bed on electric blanket heat 2 and the other side on electric blanket heat 1 you will be warm, toasty and awesome but with a roll-over escape method.

More on recording and next gig

For those intent on stalking us we have booked in to start recording our second EP Be Here Right Now in the first week of September in view of an early 2009 launch. We’re very excited to finally start the whole process and have some great people involved.

Joel Taylor, drummer for The Abandonment and locally respected engineer and producer will be engineering the drums and bass during those early September studio sessions, while Ryan Granger will oversee vocal engineering and I will be responsible for all other engineering and producing.

The songs being recorded are Be Here Right Now, In The City, Make My Day, Air Balloons and The Blame in no particular order as of yet. Expect a different sound to the last E.P. with more instrumentation hopefully a much higher production value.

We have received a confirmation of the line-up for the gig on August 24 at Veludo in St. Kilda with our set nestled between Tom Kline and Direct Influence. The afternoon kicks off from 3pm, and we’re expected to play from about 5 – 6pm. Hopefully the weather has warmed up by then but whether it’s rain or shine we’d love to see you come down to our first gig since May. It will only be a week or so before we head in to the studio so you’ll be able to get a good idea of what the new E.P. is going to sound like.

Awesome Gloves

James and his girlfriend (sorry ladies, he’s taken) made me these awesome gloves in sympathy of me having to practise in the cold of the studio during winter. photo-3.jpg

The next few months

Just a little update to keep you all abreast of what’s happening in Afterthoughts land. While it’s cold and grey we’re being creative and diligent and working hard at five songs that will be recorded in early August for a new E.P., with the view to a launch late in the year.

The new material is sounding great, and apart from James blowing up his bass head the other day, everything is dandy. We will be announcing some shows soon, so keep an eye out here or on myspace for those details. As the new E.P. launch draws closer, we’ll be looking for a street team of enthusiastic fans to help us spread the word. Let us know if you’re keen, and we’ll work on some nifty things to give back to you in return.

Toodle-pip.
